March 2022 Blog Post

Message from Loyal Allen Jr. Associate Dean for Student Funding

I want to start off by acknowledging another dark time in society for our Ukrainian and Eastern European Community. I stand with you in solidarity as this can be impactful for students, staff and faculty at Highline College. Here are some resources for support:

Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. On February 25, 2022, President Joe Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the 116th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. The first African-American Female to be nominated in American History. As we celebrate another milestone towards equity I want to remind us all that when you do the right thing at the right time, the opposition you receive is fear of dismantling power!

Continuing the celebration of being the first, there are some of you where winter quarter was your first step to embark on your higher education journey; first quarter enrolling in ESOL or GED classes and for some this spring quarter will be your first! Spring quarter registration is now open and we look forward to serving you.

In solidarity,

Loyal Allen Jr.

Highline College COVID-19 Safety

Your safety is important. The face mask protocol follows State of Washington Department of Health order 20-03.4 Face Coverings – Statewide. The guidance follows CDC recommendations for individuals in areas of substantial or high transmission, like Washington State, to wear face masks in indoor public places regardless of vaccination status, with limited exceptions. Although a double layer cloth face mask of dense fabric is acceptable, Highline College recommends a higher level mask for better protection. For more information, click here.
