- The Academic Success Centers are here to help. Click here to learn more about academic support.
- Consider reaching out to your instructor. Each instructor has intentional office hours for you to ask specific questions or clarify assignments. Most instructors are willing to meet at a time outside their office hours that works for you per your request. You can find your instructors office hours in your syllabus.
- Create a study group! Connecting with peers can be a powerful tool. When done with integrity in mind, you can assist each other to success.
- Consider joining a Student Program. Highline has a variety of programs based on identities to build community and assist in success:
- MESA: MESA serves underrepresented students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields with academic support and professional development. MESA provides rigorous academic enrichment services along with personal, financial aid, and transfer advising and professional development opportunities. - TRiO: TRiO is a place where you can connect with students who share a similar background, being first in the family to earn a bachelor’s degree. It is a place where you can receive both intensive academic services like tutoring, advising, and coaching while having a space you can call home. TRiO students excel in the program. They graduate. - Umoja: Umoja, (a Kiswahili word meaning unity) is a community and critical resource dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of African American and other students. The Umoja Black Scholars program at Highline College connects students and community members in order to share the cultural and educational experiences of African Americans and other students. - Meet with an Advisor. Academic Pathway Advisors can assist you in selecting courses, choosing a major (Highline Pathway), degree completion, credit overloads, and removing blocks. Click here to schedule an appointment.
- Visit the Library. The Librarians can assist you in avoiding plagiarism, conducting research, and learning new information on virtually any subject. The library also provides an informative tutorial about avoiding plagiarism.
- Join a club! Connecting with peers can be a powerful tool to create a positive college experience and foster academic success. Click here to explore different clubs.
